Good job Blip! I mean, the last bunch of inks you've posted, keep working!
By the way... where do you get the high-res professional pencils? I've been looking for some in the past to practice my inks and was very hard to find them.
Thanks!

Hello Almayer,

Thanks for the nice words, I appreciate it.

I've seen your work at Penciljack and like it quite a bit -- clean and solid, somewhat like Jerry Ordway/Kevin Maguire - much better than the continual trends of unnecessary detail. If you ever want to collaborate on something, let me know. We could do a test image to see how it goes.

As for finding pencils... I just do a google image search for an artist's name and the word "pencil". Unfortunately a lot of the results I have to up-res, which isn't always pretty or easy to ink.

Now I remember the pages you upload to penciljack. You got reviewed by Paul Smith and the thread ended there. His suggestions are always good ones, but I'd taken them too seriously sometimes :)

I like what you do, you're a good professional. What Paul suggested about giving more of "you" to the inks is the only thing I would have said if I had said something in that thread (in fact is the same problem I have when I ink others not me). You only need to keep working to get to the level in which your work will be distinctive, so it's only a matter of time. You got great skills.

Thanks for the Ordway/Maguire comparison, it's an honor. I always think that my drawings don't have an style yet, because I don't practice enough to develop a distinctive one. And I must say that I only know Ordway from the first Batman movie comic book, and know Maguire only by his name, a shame, I know it :( . I have read mostly manga my whole life and I'm trying to read or at least study the drawings of as many american comic book artists as I can from a year or so. The only comic book artist I knew well before I decided to try to be a professional was García-López... So imagine my ignorance!

Thanks for your kind answer. I still have to finish a pair of pages of a Batman story I was doing in september (I've been a little busy since then in other things). Once I finish them maybe we could give a try to that collaboration. I hope to come up to it! And thanks for the info about the hi-res pages!
